Join our team as a Swim Instructor at Edward L Gaylord "Downtown" YMCA with the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City.

Be part of our Aquatics Team to ensure a safe, fun, and welcoming environment at the pool. Whether you’re a certified lifeguard, a swim instructor, or both, you’ll help swimmers build confidence and skills. No experience? We offer training!

• Maintain vigilance to ensure swimmer safety.
• Assist in rescue operations using proper aquatic techniques.
• Promote YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Work well with youth of all ages and abilities.
• Teach swim lessons according to YMCA standards and mission.
• Prepare and lead classes, keeping accurate attendance and progress records.
• Communicate effectively with participants and staff.
• Ensure all safety and certification requirements are current.
• Develop positive relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.

• Current CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid certifications (training provided if needed).
• Completion of annual compliance trainings.
• Minimum age of 16 with demonstrated swimming skills.
• Certification as a YMCA Swim Instructor or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain YMCA Swim Instructor certification within six months of employment.

$11.00 per hour

• Entry level, full-time position.
