CDL Truck Driver

Travel Required

Summary:

Load and transport oversized loads of equipment and supplies to various job sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Check transport vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order and in accordance with DOT requirements.

* Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.

* Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.

* Maintain logs of working hours and/or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.

* Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.

* Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.

* Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations.

* Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, earth moving equipment, general construction and forestry machinery, or other materials.

* Ability to understand and comply with safety considerations as set herein and others required for the position.

Requirements:

* Valid CDL Driver's license and medical certification

* Practice good safety habits from company and as required under Federal and State DOT

* Must be able to read road maps and work in dusty or dirty surroundings

* Follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling

* Judge distances and slopes accurately and make decisions based on verifiable standards

* Maintains visibility with operator throughout course of loading and unloading trailer

* Have good vision and hearing (either naturally or with correction)

* Frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted

* Routine climbing into/out of equipment while maintaining 3 points of contact

* Follows Company and FDOT safety requirements in performance of duties

Education and Experience:

* High school diploma preferred and one year related experience.

* Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement. Must have a clean driver record.
