The OpportunityWind turbine technicians inspect, troubleshoot, install components and repair wind turbines and turbine internal and external components such as controllers. A Technician I typically performs planned maintenance while assisting Technician II and III in troubleshooting to return turbines to service.
What You'll Do at Enel North America- Complete all scheduled maintenance for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment to maximize generation.
- Install, test, maintain and troubleshoot minor components and assist with some major components.
- Perform current and voltage calculations as necessary.
- Initiate reports and records associated with maintenance and repairs.
- Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, and job-specific documentation to conduct maintenance and repairs safely.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to use electrical test equipment such as DMM, megger and multi-process calibration equipment
- Knowledge in electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques
- Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment (voltage testers, amp clamps, hydraulic torque equipment, alignment tools, hand and power tools) and with heavy equipment for facility maintenance including crane and rigging knowledge
- Competency in working with low- and medium-voltage equipment
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to other operational sites within the US as needed
- Ability and willingness to respond to site emergencies 24/7, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
- Exposure to hot/cold ambient weather conditions
- Ability to climb turbine towers 100+ meters high up to 5-15 times per week, as needed
- Comfortable working at heights of 300 feet or more in confined spaces and ability to perform essential physical functions with/without reasonable accommodation; includes working in PPE such as arc flash suits and high voltage gloves
- Risk awareness of hazards including energized equipment and rotating equipment
- Must pass a physical fitness exam and maintain a weight of 280 lbs or less to accommodate safety restrictions
- Ability to work long hours in a wind turbine without frequent downtime
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- A clean driving record means: in the last 3 years, no suspensions or disqualifying offenses; no more than 2 moving violations; no reckless driving; in the last 5 years, no major driving offenses including DUI/DWI or at-fault major incidents
- High school completion and 1+ year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
