Jr Project Engineer supports capital improvement projects and plant modernization initiatives across our operations. This full-time, salaried position is a key developmental role designed to build future engineering leadership within the company. The Jr Project Engineer will work closely with the corporate engineering team and plant leadership to plan, execute, and deliver Capex projects that improve safety, efficiency, and performance.
The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical or process engineering background, exceptional organizational skills, and a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving in industrial environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a self‑starter looking to grow into a senior engineering role.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the planning, execution, and closeout of capital projects across multiple facilities.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules in coordination with plant and corporate teams.
- Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and systems.
- Conduct field evaluations and verify existing conditions to support design activities.
- Work with plant operations and maintenance to troubleshoot mechanical and process issues.
- Support data collection, process audits, and technical evaluations of system performance.
- Provide engineering input for equipment selection, layout, and optimization.
- Assist in developing and updating SOPs and technical documentation.
- Interface with equipment vendors and contractors to ensure quality, cost, and schedule alignment.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and installation specs.
- Oversee on‑site project work to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Promote and support a culture of safety across all project work.
- Ensure all project activities are conducted in accordance with MSHA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in hazard reviews, permitting, and safety documentation preparation.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial, mining, lime, or cement environments.
- Familiarity with project engineering, Capex planning, and process systems.
- Strong problem‑solving and mechanical aptitude; hands‑on approach required.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
- Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD or Solid Works, and project management tools.
- Ability to travel to plant sites, 50% travel.
