Job Title
I&C Technician (Senior or Level II)
Job Information- Grade:

Maintains, calibrates and troubleshoots power plant control systems in support of efficient generation of power under varying conditions.
Level of ResponsibilityComplex responsibilities related to the primary focus of the job area. Uses best practices and in-depth business knowledge to solve complex problems and improve products or services. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position.
Essential Functions- Directs activities of I&C contractors and vendors.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Troubleshoots and maintains all AC/DC control circuits and components.
- Performs required testing of safety systems such as ESD, fire detection and gas detection systems.
- Provides detailed troubleshooting and programming modifications for PLC/ DCS and HMI systems.
- Serves as a technical resource to operations personnel and lower technician positions.
- Completes and publishes calibration and testing reports for documentation purposes.
- Performs complex maintenance, configuration and calibration of process and safety instrumentation used in electrical generation.
- Mentors and assists with training entry-level technicians.
- Directs, plans and conducts assignments of a complex nature in a lead role.
- Schedules and coordinates daily activities with peer operations personnel and negotiates scheduling conflicts.
- Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline and 1 year experience in Instrumentation & Controls/Industrial Controls; OR
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years experience in Instrumentation & Controls/Industrial Controls; OR
- Prior military experience for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214 and 2 years experience in Instrumentation & Controls/Industrial Controls.
- A certificate of completion from a vocational trade institution in an Instrumentation & Controls/Industrial Controls field is equivalent to 1 year of experience.
- Experience must include 1 year in a power plant or other process controlled environment such as oil/gas/chemical refining and/or processing or manufacturing.
- Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline and 5 years experience in Instrumentation & Controls/Industrial Controls; OR
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years experience in Instrumentation & Controls/Industrial Controls; OR
- Prior military experience for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214 and 6 years experience in Instrumentation & Controls/Industrial Controls.
- A certificate of completion from a vocational trade institution in an Instrumentation & Controls/Industrial Controls field is equivalent to 1 year of experience.
- Experience must include 3 years in a power plant or other process controlled environment such as oil/gas/chemical refining and/or processing or manufacturing.
- May be required to cross‑train in various crafts and operation departments at various times of the year.
- May work under hazardous conditions where physical danger exists due to mechanical equipment.
- May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
- Required to work in a multi‑craft crew including Mechanics, Electricians, Insulators, Instrument & Controls Technicians, and Machinists.
- May require travel.
- May require work at heights up to and exceeding thirty feet, underground and in confined spaces.
- May require overtime, weekends and holidays.
- May require non‑standard work schedules to include on‑call and call‑outs.
