Job Type: Regular, Full time.
Compensation: $43,600 (Level I); $48,600 (Level II).

Positions in this family are responsible for planning, supervising, and performing technical and professional level transportation work across a broad range of activities, including research, design, survey, environmental studies, bid letting, construction, maintenance, project management, traffic operations, materials testing, and real‑estate acquisition.
Typical Functions- Performs sampling and testing of materials for highway construction and maintenance; prepares plant inspections and material certifications.
- Surveys grade and alignment of highways using survey equipment.
- Collects statistics and documentation about the state highway system.
- Conducts traffic studies to aid in determinations of transportation system improvements.
- Performs or supervises the bid letting process, developing bid proposals and coordinating with contractors and industry.
- Inspects, reviews, or provides oversight for contractors, consultants, or utility relocations to ensure compliance; prepares progressive and final estimates.
- Performs planning and review functions for transportation systems such as rail, public transportation, waterways, and highways; determines existing service levels and future needs.
- Implements real estate duties including property appraisal, acquisition, or relocation assistance; prepares plans and reports for right‑of‑way projects.
- Performs audits on research program effectiveness, right‑of‑way plan adequacy, and construction documentation accuracy.
- Supervises employees in any area of transportation work.
Level I:
None required.
Level II:
One year of transportation‑related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., two college courses in mathematics, natural science, engineering or a closely related field).
Basic geometry and algebra; basic laboratory equipment; construction materials;
English language comprehension. Ability to measure distance, collect data, operate computer equipment, and operate transportation‑related equipment.
Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver's license. Must be willing to travel as required. Some positions may be safety‑sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.
