Must work directly with Experis as w/2 hourly, (No corp to Corp)
Remote - 3 years contract position. Our client prefers contractor to be located in New York or NE Region.
Interview: 1 intro call + 2 interview rounds so all together 3 web interviews.
Hourly rate $45.00 to $50.00
Contractor must have a computer, cell phone, and access to reliable high-speed internet.
Depending on location, Staff Aug may be invited to travel for team/business unit events in NYC or Albany 1‑2 times a year.
5+ years of relevant experience, incl. project management/oversight experience Data Analyst
3+ years of relevant experience, incl. data analysis and visualization project work experience.
Must have strong experience with data visualization and mapping software; ESRI tools (incl. ArcGIS) and Tableau preferred
About the TeamNote from manager:
- Part of Clean Siting Team | that supports energy storage and Large Scale Renewables Program (Solar / wind etc.)
- Some projects are permitted locally (via municipalities) and some are permitted vis State in this group
- Working with internal stakeholders mostly
- Team collects a lot of data which is mostly in Excel files to achieve climate goals
- Need to be proactive, track the work and projects in this team
- Data management + data visualization is core focus of this role
- Should have proven experience in data visualization | ArcGIS (more important and preferred tool than Tableau). However, someone with exp in Tableau and some exp in ArcGIS can also be considered
- Someone coming from Clean Energy / Energy Storage BG is highly preferred as they will understand application of data in clean energy space or have some understanding around it
- Salesforce Exp - Nice to have not Must
- Should be able to manage projects on its own, create dashboards etc.
- Should understand what to do with all the data
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Ability to extract data from various sources
- Example of a project that they are working with:
Collecting data from various resources for tracking financial agreements in Clean energy space. Working with a diff team on this project. - The Data Analyst will support the development, maintenance and improvement of Siting Team data tools and resources, including but not limited to: various databases, mapping tools, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and other related tasks supporting Siting Team work.
- Develop, build, and maintain databases and other data resources relevant to clean energy project siting (examples include, but are not limited to: ...)
- Tracking development of local laws across 1,500+ municipalities in NYS, tracking clean energy project financial agreements or development milestones.
- Leverage existing and future data resources to create compelling data visualizations tools for internal and/or public use, including but not limited to statutorily required data resources under the SITED Act.
- Support Siting Team to develop and operationalize metrics to track impact of team's work, as well as other evolutions across NYS's clean energy landscape – identify and work to fill relevant data or knowledge gaps.
- Develop and/or collaborate on deliverables including dashboards, reports, data visualizations, and potentially publicly available datasets or other data resources.
- (As needed) Present to the teams, leadership, and external stakeholders on key findings from data projects.
- (As needed) Collaborate on cross-team or cross-agency projects relevant to Clean Energy Siting Team work Ian Latimer.
- Strong work ethic, and ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Strong communication skills, incl. ability to distill technical data/visualization information for mixed audiences.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively apply data/visualizations for non-technical purposes, incl. team/Authority/state strategy, planning, and program operations.
- Understanding of clean energy technologies (solar, wind, BESS) and project development/siting.
- Understanding of local, state, and federal energy permitting processes.
- Proven understanding of fundamentals of database development, maintenance, and utilization.
- Experience with Salesforce CRM and project management capabilities.
- Ability to operationalize data/develop metrics for tracking and reporting purposes – interest in/ability to think "big picture" in developing data tools and visualizations (e.g. understanding the interplay of data collection efforts with broader Authority or state energy goals and policies).
- BA in a relevant discipline, including but not limited to: data science, environmental science or related, geographic information systems (GIS), regional or urban planning, engineering, etc.
