Job Overview

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is seeking an experienced Health Information Management (HIM) Manager to oversee our clinic’s HIM Department operations—ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellence in all health information processes.

Lead with precision. Drive compliance. Advance patient care. As an HIM Manager, your leadership will directly influence patient record integrity, regulatory compliance, and department performance.

• Lead and evaluate daily HIM operations, including chart retrieval, release of information, scanning/importing, medical coding, and clinical documentation integrity.
• Ensure team performance meets productivity, quality, and compliance standards through regular audits and process improvements.
• Oversee medical coding workflow and collaborate with EHR, RPMS, and other teams to maintain formatting, coding, and data retrieval standards.
• Train and mentor staff on health record maintenance, coding updates, confidentiality, and regulatory changes.
• Hire, develop, and evaluate team members while managing the department budget.
• Compile and analyze monthly reports, presenting findings to the Director.
• Oversee the secure creation, handling, and disposal of physical and electronic patient records.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards and applicable state/federal regulations.

• Bachelor’s in Health Information Management + 5 years directly related experience, OR 9 years directly related experience in lieu of degree
• RHIT certification required
• Proficiency in Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy, and ICD-10-CM
• Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills
