Emergency Service Specialist II (Non‑Exempt)

Overview

Responds to life safety emergencies, providing pre‑hospital medical care, rescue, fire protection, prevention, and suppression. Provides pre‑hospital care in accordance with the State Department of Health EMS Regulations and department protocols.

Position Details

• Education:
  
  Completion of fire training.
• Licensure:
  Valid driver’s license, clean record, insurable as operator;
  State of practice EMT license.
• Experience:
  
  None.
• Certifications:
  
  CPR certification.
• Other:
  Must be physically fit and able to pass the department’s Physical Ability Test and medical exam; radio communication skills essential; interact with outside agencies such as law enforcement and hospitals; operate emergency vehicles safely; maintain currency in EVOC; interact effectively with all public and/or corporate businesses and staff in a positive manner that respects their organization yet projects Mercy Standards;
  
  complete Incident Command courses as directed by the organization.
• Preferred Education:
  
  College hours and formal fire training preferred.
• Preferred Experience:
  
  One year healthcare/EMS preferred; one year firefighting experience.
