Help protect one of Florida’s most vital resources — water — with a career at the Southwest Florida Water Management District (District).

The District is a government agency whose mission is to protect water resources, minimize flood risks, and ensure the public’s water needs are met. We serve a population of nearly 6 million people in west-central Florida as directed by state law.

Join our Data Collection Bureau

Support the District’s Data Collection Bureau by managing the District’s scientific enterprise database, associated data processing applications (e.g., Environmental Data Portal (EDP), a user interface), and stored hydrologic data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and availability of valuable water resource data to internal and external customers.

The Hydrologic Data Systems Analyst will ensure hydrologic data reports and related graphics are produced in a timely manner by ensuring data flows between databases and the R scripts used to generate the reports. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to ensure successful operation of data management upload and download processes and will develop and maintain ad‑hoc and automated data transfers across database systems through coordination with software vendors, Information Technology Bureau staff, and Hydrologic Data office and field staff.

The role includes assessing data management system performance, implementing modifications and enhancements, and conducting quality control to identify and resolve data issues. This opportunity offers creative process‑improvement work, flexibility, and true work‑life balance.

The District supports employees who prefer a flexible schedule or hybrid work schedule so they can enjoy their time outside of the District. This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will be required to come on‑site for a portion of their time and may have the option to work remotely the remainder of the time (must live in Florida).

Total Rewards Package Includes
  • 9 paid holidays (+ 1 floating holiday)
  • Generous vacation and sick leave
  • Paid Parental Leave, including Maternity, Bonding and Family Supportive Work Program
  • Medical and dental insurance (91‑97% District paid)
  • Vision insurance
  • Deferred Compensation Program
  • Basic and voluntary life and AD&D insurance
  • Long‑term disability (District Paid)
  • Health savings & flexible spending accounts
  • Flexible schedule for work‑life balance
  • Legal and Identity Theft protection
  • Wellness program
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Transfer in years of service for other public sector work – towards the FRS program and sick time
Starting Compensation

  • Hydrologic Data Systems Analyst 4: $57,875.00 – $78,991.39
  • Hydrologic Data Systems Analyst 5: $66,180.00 – $91,500.00

The starting salary ranges are included for the Data Analyst profile which reflects the minimum to approximately 50.6% of the respective pay grades. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.
