As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly skilled, efficient, and dependable Senior Material Handler to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who consistently performs at a higher level—able to complete nearly twice the workload of an entry-level handler while maintaining accuracy, safety, and professionalism.
The Senior Material Handler plays a key role in the performance and flow of the warehouse. This position requires advanced material‑handling skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment. The ideal candidate is a proven high performer who can take initiative, solve problems, and support others in maintaining Mill Creek’s standards of quality and service.
ResponsibilitiesHigh-Level Material Handling & Productivity
- Efficiently receive, inspect, and unload incoming materials (lumber, hardware, tools, and other supplies) with speed and accuracy that exceeds standard handling expectations.
- Complete picking, staging, and order assembly tasks at an advanced pace while maintaining accuracy and minimizing errors.
- Ensure all outgoing materials are properly packaged, labeled, and prepared for delivery or pick-up.
- Accurately record and update inventory in the warehouse management system; ensure stock rotation and optimized storage layouts.
- Perform advanced cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and support physical inventory processes.
- Identify inventory issues quickly and recommend solutions to prevent recurring problems.
- Safely and expertly operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material‑handling equipment; consistently move high volumes of materials within tight time frames.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and immediately report or address mechanical issues.
- Inspect all materials for damage, quality concerns, or mismatches and elevate issues promptly.
- Model strict adherence to all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and best practices.
- Maintain exceptionally clean, organized, and safe work areas, setting the example for others.
- Serve as a resource for less experienced material handlers by offering guidance, answering questions, and demonstrating proper procedures.
- Assist in training new team members and reinforce performance expectations.
- Collaborate effectively with warehouse staff, drivers, and other departments to maintain smooth workflow and high customer satisfaction.
- Complete receiving documents, inventory adjustments, and other material‑handling paperwork with accuracy and timeliness.
- Communicate proactively about delays, shortages, or operational concerns.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a warehouse or materials handling role is preferred.
- Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) regularly.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management and documentation purposes.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to material handling.
