Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives and performing assigned tasks, while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Team Member, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable and service-oriented, as you must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:

Required Qualifications

• Experience:
  
  No experience required. Retail and/or pet/live animal knowledge preferred.
• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write and count accurately is required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

• Pet/Live Animal, pet food, pet product knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.

Working Conditions

• Generally working indoors with moderate noise.
• Hard surfaces and adequate lighting and temperature.
• Shift durations generally no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours.
• Promote a safe and productive environment following safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements

• This is a non-sedentary position requiring physical stamina.
• Ability to move quickly and safely throughout the store and outdoor areas.
• Operate equipment safely and accurately.
• Occasionally lift or reach overhead.
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders frequently.
• Move throughout the store for entire shift.
• Access all areas of the store safely.
• Operate store equipment effectively.
• Read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
• Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
• Process merchandise through POS system.
• Move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Complete training and certification successfully.
