The Construction/Maintenance Technician III is responsible for the oversight of all construction and renovation activities for seven county health departments—Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Ottawa, Rogers, Wagoner, and Washington. The role includes evaluating contract workers, inspecting buildings, estimating costs, and preparing reports.
Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions- Responsibilities related to the construction, maintenance, repair, or upkeep of buildings, grounds, or other state property, requiring no license
- Assisting in the construction or renovation of buildings
- General maintenance and upkeep of plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical, and other systems
- Minor repairs to machinery or other equipment
- General maintenance of grounds or lawns
- Responsibilities in building and grounds maintenance and repair operations or construction and renovation activities
- May include overall responsibility for a maintenance program which is small in size, scope and complexity or serving as an assistant to a higher-level position in a larger maintenance program, with responsibility for one or more phases of the overall operation
- The inspection of buildings, premises, or equipment for needed repairs or maintenance, estimating costs for labor and material, determining equipment and personnel needs, making on-site inspections to evaluate work in progress, and preparation of various reports and other information concerning work activities
- Being present in the office is an essential function of this job
- Other duties as assigned
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
- Works effectively in team environment, participating and assisting their peers
Education and experience requirements:
five years of experience in one or more building trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- If education, certification or licensure is required, applicants must provide documentation at the time of application
- All applicants are subject to a background check and must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the materials, methods, tools and equipment used in various building and maintenance trades; ability to use tools and equipment; ability to follow written and oral instructions; knowledge of supervisory principles and practices; ability to supervise the work of others; ability to write and maintain records and reports; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentWork is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings. Some work at great heights or outdoors in all weather conditions. Requires kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, standing or walking long periods of time; handling, controlling, feeling objects or tools; occasionally lifting/carrying 80 lb, frequently 25 lb; pushing and pulling a maximum force of 40 lb; lifting and holding overhead up to 40 lb. Being present in the office is an essential function of this job.
