Job Description & How to Apply Below
EXPERIENCED GENERAL FOREMAN – UTILITY VEGETATION MANAGEMENT Riggs Tree Service, LLC | Utility Right-of-Way Operations WE'RE LOOKING FOR A FIELD LEADER WHO KNOWS THE INDUSTRY!

Do you have hands‑on experience in utility vegetation management, powerline clearance, tree trimming, and right‑of‑way brush clearing? Have you successfully led crews, managed production, and maintained high safety standards while working around energized utility lines?

Riggs Tree Service is looking for an experienced General Foreman who knows how to lead people, manage multiple crews, and get the job done safely and efficiently.

We're not looking for someone who simply knows how to supervise. We're looking for someone who understands utility vegetation management operations from the ground up—someone who has been in the field, knows the equipment, understands production expectations, and can earn the respect of the crews they lead.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As a General Foreman, you'll oversee multiple field crews performing utility vegetation management and right‑of‑way maintenance operations.

  • Lead, supervise, and develop multiple tree trimming and brush clearing crews.
  • Oversee utility line clearance, tree removal, mechanical brush clearing, mowing, and ROW maintenance.
  • Manage daily crew assignments, equipment utilization, productivity, and job completion.
  • Ensure crews meet utility customer specifications, safety requirements, and production expectations.
  • Conduct jobsite inspections, safety meetings, and job hazard assessments.
  • Coach Foremen and crew members to improve performance, efficiency, and safety.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges before they affect production.
  • Coordinate with Area Managers, Cooperative Managers, and utility representatives.
  • Monitor equipment condition, maintenance needs, and DOT compliance.
  • Review employee time records, production reports, and job documentation.
  • Support storm restoration and emergency response operations when needed.
THE EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR Our ideal candidate brings proven field leadership experience in utility vegetation management, including:
  • Hands‑on experience in utility line clearance, tree trimming, tree removal, and right‑of‑way brush clearing.
  • Experience supervising multiple crews, Foremen, or field operations.
  • Strong knowledge of utility vegetation management equipment, including bucket trucks, chippers, chainsaws, aerial lifts, and mechanical ROW clearing equipment.
  • Understanding of working safely around energized powerlines and utility rights‑of‑way.
  • Experience managing crew productivity, job quality, safety, and customer expectations.
  • Ability to recognize operational problems, make decisions, and keep crews moving.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, ANSI Z133 safety standards, and utility customer specifications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • CDL and First Aid/CPR certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel as operational needs require.
WHAT SETS A GREAT GENERAL FOREMAN APART?

We want a leader who:

  • Knows the work: Understands what it takes to safely and efficiently clear utility rights‑of‑way.
  • Leads from experience: Has earned the respect of crews through field knowledge and leadership.
  • Owns production: Knows how to balance safety, quality, equipment, and crew productivity.
  • Develops people: Builds strong Foremen and crews through training, accountability, and respect.
  • Puts safety first: Never sacrifices employee safety to meet production goals.
  • Gets results: Takes pride in completing work correctly, efficiently, and professionally.

Our culture is built around four core values:
