Heavy Equipment Operator
Department: Operations

Report to: Road Maintenance Supervisor
Location: Multiple
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as trucks, tractors, road graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, cranes, backhoes, paint machines, semi-trailers, snow removal equipment.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
- Repair failures in roadway shoulders or bridge decks.
- Repair and replace signs, guardrails, fences.
- Provide traffic control assistance using stop/slow signs or flags.
- Apply herbicide to highway rights-of-way to control weeds.
- Remove debris including tires, animal carcass, spilled items.
- Level I:
Knowledge of safe operation of heavy machinery; manual labor; ability to maintain and operate power equipment; follow instructions. - Level II:
Knowledge of operation and servicing of heavy equipment; materials used in highway construction; proper highway traffic control. Ability to operate heavy equipment; use construction materials; follow instructions; communicate effectively. One year of experience operating heavy equipment. - Valid Oklahoma driver’s license (class A or B with appropriate endorsements). Commercial driver’s license required for certain positions.
- Physical requirements:
lift 80‑100 pounds, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl. Vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth. - Drug test prior to appointment; background check and drug screening required.
- Annual benefit allowance up to $20,538.24 for employees and dependents.
