As the Process Controls Engineer you will design, maintain, support, and improve site process automation systems. This position serves as a key technical resource to lead and support plant optimization efforts regarding capacity, cost, quality, and environmental improvements utilizing process control techniques. Primary focus of this role will be system administration for process control network with emphasis on identifying and implementing process improvements for DCS and PLC‑based systems and troubleshooting cyber threats.
You will manage the physical processes and equipment in an industrial setting in Okmulgee, OK.
- Design and develop industrial control system solutions including Distributed Control System, Programmable Logic Controller, and Human Machine Interface programs to address operational needs for new construction projects, maintenance projects or operational requests.
- Implement software updates, patches and manage network data and files.
- Create, manage, test and archive backups and disaster recovery files for critical systems and networks.
- Monitor KPIs for PCN and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure seamless data flow and connectivity between enterprise business systems and industrial production systems.
- Work with plant management, engineers, maintenance and contractors to provide expert guidance, leadership and assistance to Control System Specialists, upgrade projects, troubleshooting, etc.; communicate and maintain proper documentation related to the DCS system status, changes, and coordinate and conduct personnel training as necessary.
- Provide technical support for process safety efforts, such as Process Hazard Assessment and Management of Change.
- Investigate new technology and methods to improve cybersecurity and system performance as it relates to automation; provide automation solution estimates to project managers, facility engineers, and others.
- Provide support to Capital projects, including expansion, regulatory and modification projects, working as SME for Process Control Network.
- Support control system and safety instrumented system, programmable logic controller maintenance and test planning; software upgrades, emergency shutdown testing, offline and online testing, and coordination of activities with or without plant shutdowns.
- Expert on control system networking and industrial instrumentation devices.
- Understand networking protocols.
- Hands‑on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
Engineering degree in Electrical or Chemical from an ABET‑accredited college or university highly preferred.
ExperienceRequires 1+ years of relevant industrial experience in chemical, petroleum, or biochemical process design engineering.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities- Experience designing, commissioning and maintaining DCS based control systems in 24/7 manufacturing facility.
- Experience supporting/maintaining industrial automation network.
