Overview
We are seeking a full-time
Component Engineering Technician in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting Component Engineers and supporting Garmin's component library. This would include supporting engineers in releasing new drawings, maintaining current drawings, and supporting components throughout their lifecycle.
- Research component information including web searching and contacting suppliers and manufacturers
- Maintain various component databases
- Assist Component Engineers in compiling information for specification control drawings and identifying and promoting the use of preferred components
- Assist Component Engineers in component failure analysis and problem resolution and in cooperation with Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and suppliers on all component issues
- Work with suppliers to resolve component problems to identify “root cause” and permanent solutions
- Perform tests and record data in connection with component evaluations and qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Electronics Technology or Computer Technology
- Working knowledge of all electronic component types
- Demonstrates proficiency using PC systems and MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
- Mature, self-confident, and able to communicate effectively with people both inside and outside the company
- 2+ years experience as an Electronics Technician
- Auto Cad or other Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience
- Experience with adobe Acrobat
- Knowledge of statistical methods, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), International Standards Organization (ISO) 9000, quality standards and best practices
- Electronics trouble shooting and repair experience
