Components Engineer

Role Overview and ResponsibilitiesThe Components Engineer is responsible for component selection, qualification, reliability analysis, and life cycle management of components used in power supply products. This role works closely with product line engineers, QA, purchasing, and environmental compliance teams.
- Identify suitable alternate or new components for existing/new product designs, considering cost and availability.
- Write Engineering Change Requests as needed to process PCNs from suppliers and update the component database.
- Conduct component‑level tests for quality assurance, prepare reports, and add results to the internal qualification database.
- Interface with material suppliers to obtain compliance documentation; update information in PLM/ERP.
- Identify obsolete components/suppliers and develop solutions.
- Maintain BOM, manufacturing processes, and part numbering systems.
- Provide input to new designs to enhance product reliability.
- Perform reliability modeling and predictions, including MTBF calculations.
- Ensure accurate internal part number descriptions and attribute data.
- Perform fault analysis.
- Complete work on time, ensuring accuracy and quality excellence.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Project management skills with strong leadership abilities.
- Analytical skills to read, interpret complex documents.
- Ability to write scientific documents with test results.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Advanced mathematical skills (exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, permutations, statistical analysis).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, political asylum seeker, or refugee).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical or science‑related field.
- At least one year of related experience or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a Components Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer.
