Sales & Use Tax Manager, Corporate Office, Olathe, KS. Minimum of ten (10) years’ Sales & Use Tax experience, BA in Accounting. Strong multi‑state taxation experience in construction taxability, customer and supplier exemption management, in‑house and outsourced return preparation, and working knowledge of tax calculation software. International taxation experience is a plus. Team management experience requested.
Responsibilities- Department Management:
Coach and mentor three Senior Tax Accountants and one Tax Accountant, assess and cultivate team’s strengths, manage workflow and coaching opportunities, hire, train and develop new employees. - Tax Team Processes:
Oversee the team’s preparation and filing of high‑volume monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns for DH Pace Company, Inc. and affiliated subsidiaries. Respond to escalated tax inquiries and correspondence from tax authorities, customers, the business and vendors. - Company Tax Management:
Maintain continual review of sales tax laws and regulations, document and communicate changes, create and maintain company‑wide tax reference tools and training guides, manage relationships with external tax providers, provide sales tax advice for Mergers & Acquisitions. - Audit Management:
Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure division tax compliance, manage state and local jurisdictional tax audits, provide auditors with necessary data and facts, research and review tax paperwork for accuracy, rebut issues and argue tax statutes to reduce assessments. - Perform other job‑related responsibilities and projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum ten (10) years’ Sales & Use Tax experience, strong experience in multi‑state taxation, construction taxability, customer and supplier exemption management, outsourced return preparation and tax calculation software. International taxation experience is a plus.
- Proficient in creating, manipulating and analyzing data in MS Excel, using formulas and pivot tables; experience with Vertex, CCH Sure Tax and ERP systems with tax programming.
- Strong communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Successful completion of references, employment verifications, background check and drug screen required in advance of hire.
