Sterile Processing Scope Specialist

Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Manager, the Scope Specialist will reprocess endoscopes used in the operating room and ancillary areas, support instrument processing, transport scopes, and assist with traditional sterile processing duties.

• Demonstrate proper hand hygiene, standard precautions, and isolation principles.
• Decontaminates, inspects, assembles, and sterilizes instrumentation according to national guidelines and internal standards.
• Operates departmental equipment within appropriate guidelines/policies/procedures.
• Demonstrates high levels of quality control by following departmental policies/procedures and thorough documentation of sterilization process.
• Effectively prioritizes and communicates customer needs within the department and with external customers.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Understands and identifies instrumentation and equipment utilized in all customer areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

• High School Graduate

• 1 or more years Sterile Processing Technician, Surgical Technologist, or Scope Reprocessing experience.

• Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) within 1 Year.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) within 90 Days.

• Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) upon Hire.
