Position Summary / Career InterestThe CT Technologist is responsible for producing cross‑sectional images for the diagnosis of disease processes. Procedures may be performed in various health system locations. CT Technologists are expected to participate in ongoing training and education.
Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions- Acts as a liaison for communication between departments and assists with special projects approved by Radiology leadership.
- Assists with developing continuing education strategies for the CT Department.
- Provides teaching and learning opportunities to colleagues and students.
- Ensures all staff operate equipment safely, adhering to policies, procedures and protocols.
- Operates CT scanners and auxiliary devices within the scope of designated locations, ensuring radiation exposure is minimized while maintaining image quality.
- Maintains an organized patient flow, coordinating examinations efficiently to reduce patient stay.
- Has excellent knowledge of contrast reactions and responds immediately to patient needs.
- Completes mandatory educational assignments as directed by supervisor or senior supervisor.
- Performs routine CT procedures at a high standard, gradually expanding to specialty studies.
- Sets equipment parameters, provides patient assessment and education, and delivers venous access for safe contrast administration.
- Supports the Mission and Vision of Olathe Health and its pursuit of “World Class” status.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
- Performs professional, clinical and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology, Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
- Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience performing basic CT procedures.
- One or more years of large facility experience.
- Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Computed Tomography (CT) – ARRT within 180 days.
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) – Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) within 90 days.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) – American Heart Association (AHA).
- Computer skills – high proficiency with RIS, PACS, EMR.
