The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long‑term care. The NA provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, recording vital signs, providing psychosocial support, assisting with transfers, repositioning, walking, range‑of‑motion and passive exercises, food preparation, dining assistance, housekeeping and laundry support, and participation in wellness and recreational programs.
Documentation of resident interactions, outcomes, and changes in condition is required, and the NA supports nursing staff with procedures as needed.
- High school graduate or GED preferred.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required; must be obtained within four months of start date, or be enrolled in a training program/endorsement process.
- CNA training and certification provided by the facility.
- Annual competency testing and a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education each year.
- Maintenance of all department‑specific required certifications.
- Medical and driver’s license qualifications if the role includes vehicle duties.
