Responsibilities- Inventory – maintains accurate inventories of medications and supplies, supports drug inventory process including rotation and restocking.
- Regulatory compliance – maintains safe and clean work area complying with procedures, rules, regulations.
- Communication and teamwork – communicates with team members, physicians and patients effectively.
- Prepares intravenous admixtures under supervision of registered pharmacist; labels and dispenses inpatient unit dose medications; delivers medications to patient care areas.
- Assists in compounding medication (weighing, measuring, mixing, blending, filtering, distilling, emulsifying, titrating).
- Delivers and fills controlled substances to nursing units' ADC, reconciling narcotic discrepancies daily.
- Prepares and loads/unloads medications into ADC with barcode scanning.
- Answers phone calls, directs to proper personnel.
- Prepares and packages hazardous medications requiring special handling.
- Maintains all required paperwork, legal documents, records for all medications.
- Participates in quality‑assurance and safety activities related to drug usage, infection control, hazard handling.
- Assumes responsibility for safe performance, reports hazards.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED) or equivalent.
- Effective oral and written English communication.
- Strong multitasking ability.
- Cooperative teamwork willingness.
- At least one year of pharmacy experience (outpatient or inpatient).
- Valid New Jersey Pharmacy Technician license.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification required within 6 months of start.
Lifts minimum 5 lbs, pushes/pulls 5 lbs. Stands minimum 4 hours a day.
CompensationMinimum rate of $22.77 per hour.
