Certified Medical Assistant - Full Time

American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S. providing services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. Our state-of-the-art centers focus on the episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine. Each location is equipped with an on‑site lab and in-hospital x‑ray capability.

AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF). This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.

Compensation

$18.00 - $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in‑house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab‑quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call‑back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre‑certifications on an as‑needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one‑year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
