NJ Sports Spine & Wellness is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Manager to oversee and optimize our end-to-end revenue cycle operations across a fast-growing, multi-disciplinary healthcare organization. This role is critical to ensuring accurate billing, timely collections, payer compliance, and actionable financial reporting across multiple service lines including physical therapy, chiropractic, sports medicine, pain management, and ancillary services.

, with the ability to lead billing staff, collaborate cross-functionally, and continuously improve systems, workflows, and financial outcomes.
Revenue Cycle & Billing Operations
- Oversee all billing, coding, claims submission, payment posting, and AR follow-up activities
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of claims to commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, WC, and no-fault carriers
- Monitor denial trends, underpayments, and payer issues; implement corrective action plans
- Ensure proper charge capture and coding compliance (CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, bundling rules)
Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Manage AR aging with a strong focus on reducing days in AR and increasing collection velocity
- Establish clear workflows for follow-ups, appeals, secondary billing, and patient balances
- Work closely with front desk and clinical teams to ensure clean claims from intake to submission
- Lead, train, and manage billing specialists and AR staff
- Establish productivity benchmarks, KPIs, and accountability metrics for the billing team
- Conduct regular audits, coaching sessions, and performance reviews
- Build SOPs for billing workflows and ensure consistency across all NJSSW locations
Reporting & Analytics
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports including:
- Net collections vs. gross charges
- Denial rates by payer
- AR aging (0–30, 31–60, 61–90, 90+)
- Collection percentages by service line and provider
- Provide actionable insights to leadership to improve profitability and operational efficiency
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with payer contracts, HIPAA, and healthcare billing regulations
- Stay current on reimbursement changes, payer policy updates, and industry best practices
- Partner with leadership on system improvements, EMR optimization, and automation opportunities
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of medical billing and revenue cycle experience
- 2+ years in a billing leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of insurance billing, EOBs, denials, appeals, and payer contracts
- Experience with multi-disciplinary practices (PT, chiro, pain management, or orthopedic preferred)
- High level of proficiency in EMR and billing systems
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills for reporting and analysis
Preferred
- Experience in high-volume outpatient or multi-location practices
- Familiarity with New Jersey insurance carriers, WC, and no-fault billing
- Proven success improving AR days, collection rates, and denial percentages
- Lean process improvement or SOP development experience
