LEARN, Southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites collaborative and student-centered candidates to apply to a College Readiness Coach opening at our Three Rivers Middle College Magnet High School in Norwich, Connecticut.
OverviewThe College Readiness Coach will support high school students enrolled in college coursework. This position ensures students are academically and socially prepared to meet the expectations of college-level learning while still in high school. The College Readiness Coach will work closely with the School Counselor and School Social Worker to implement coordinated support that promotes student success, persistence, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities- Provide structured support and regular check-ins for students taking college classes, including progress monitoring, goal setting, and study planning.
- Partner with the school staff to develop and implement proactive interventions that address academic, executive functioning, and social-emotional needs.
- Collaboratively create and maintain support plans for students experiencing academic challenges or barriers to success.
- Serve as a direct liaison with college professors and campus support services to gather feedback, communicate concerns, and facilitate accommodations as appropriate.
- Deliver individualized and small-group coaching focused on executive functioning skills such as organization, time management, planning, task initiation, note-taking, and self-advocacy.
- Support students in navigating college platforms (Blackboard, student portals, email communication) and understanding college expectations related to attendance, deadlines, and academic integrity.
- Communicate regularly with families, in alignment with the school staff team, regarding student progress and support strategies.
- Track and report student performance data, attendance in college classes, and success indicators for the Student Services Team.
- Participate in meetings with the school team to ensure wrap-around student support.
- Contribute to a positive culture aligned with the Wolf Pack Way and TRMC’s mission to foster independence, resilience, and lifelong learning.
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational or counseling capacity preferred.
- Knowledge of college readiness skills, executive functioning strategies, and early college program structures.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, high school staff, and college partners.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting diverse learners.
