Infiltrator Water Technologies is a leading provider of engineered plastic chambers, synthetic aggregates, tanks, advanced wastewater treatment systems, and accessories for onsite/decentralized wastewater and storm water management industries. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Old Saybrook, CT, the company manufactures most of its products from recycled plastic and operates throughout the US and Canada with 8 manufacturing plants.
OverviewOur products are used in most onsite septic systems in the United States and Canada. Infiltrator is a corporate partner of Habitat for Humanity, donating components for 50 septic systems each year. We are committed to advancing product design, manufacturing, and related technologies to stay at the forefront of the industry.
Responsibilities- New product development including engineering concept, design analysis, calculations and problem solving.
- Conduct form/fit feasibility studies on new product concepts.
- Address product design issues with respect to tooling and manufacturing with other team members.
- Provide technical support to other departments.
- Work directly on the development of prototype parts.
- Responsible for CAD design, drawings and changes.
- Conduct design reviews and drawing reviews.
- Apply project management principles to define task workload and timelines.
- Assure technical quality and design process rigor in execution of all assigned tasks.
- Apply product lifecycle management approach through PDM software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and superior interpersonal skills for interaction with all levels of personnel and contacts within and outside IWT.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a concentration in plastic part design and molding.
- Proven creative skills in product design and problem solving through coursework or personal interests.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience designing 3D (physical) products with a high percentage of plastic materials.
- Hands‑on physical skills associated with product development extremely important.
- Experience working in a shop environment and ability to make simple prototypes highly desirable.
- 5+ years of CAD experience required;
Solid Works preferred. - Experience with a range of materials (particularly various plastics) and processes (injection molding, thermoforming).
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced product development environment where ideation and design evolve rapidly.
