Under general supervision of the Store Manager and/or the Retail Management Team, the Sales Floor Manager is accountable for overall management and direction of processes associated with day‑to‑day sales floor operations. The role upholds company standards in all customer and donor areas, ensures fast, accurate, and friendly service at cash registers, the retail floor, and donation points.
Store Operation– Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures store performance meets financial targets and key metrics based on annual and quarterly operating plans.
- Monitors pace of work and sets appropriate tempo.
- Analyzes and acts on key metrics, observations, and information to support company objectives.
- Inspects sales floor for shop‑ability and merchandising standards and ensures a positive customer/donor experience.
- Responsible for dressing room and bathroom cleanliness.
- Leads the generation of new Goodwill Rewards Program.
- Prioritizes and directs team member activity.
- Schedules supervisors and team members for cash registers and sales floor to meet customer/donor demand.
- Continuously assesses the sales floor and directs team activity to meet standards.
- Informs team members of operating plan targets and progress.
- Monitors sales, items sold, and operations labor hours throughout each shift to ensure efficiency targets are met.
- Identifies sub‑standard departments or categories and takes action for resolution.
- Receives and responds to customer questions, requests, and complaints.
- Processes exchanges, special customer needs, and team member purchases.
- Delivers a positive and unforgettable customer/donor experience by setting the example and coaching for customer service expectations.
- Actively engages with the customer by seeking first‑hand feedback for continuous improvement.
- Implements sales and marketing promotions and programs.
- Maximizes sales performance through proper rotation, pricing, display, signage, promotions, and inventory of processed merchandise.
- Meets or exceeds sales goals consistently.
- Assists the Store Manager in managing the store budget, including payroll, revenue generation, and expense control.
- Ensures proper cash management, enforces cash register procedures, and submits required reports.
- Checks daily reports and receipts; ensures daily pick‑ups and deposits at the bank.
Work schedule includes regular weekends (Saturday, Sunday), evenings, and holidays customary to the retail trade.
Safety, Security and Loss Prevention- Monitors customers to limit/prevent losses, including bag policy compliance and potential ticket swapping or theft.
- Maintains a safe work environment through education, consistent follow‑up, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Partners with the Store Manager on safety issues and solutions.
- Protects company assets and information by ensuring safe handling, security, and integrity.
- Manages cash and tender controls; performs morning accounting and banking procedures as needed.
- Promotes loss prevention awareness by upholding procedures.
- Ensures the store and premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards; all safety, health, and emergency procedures are understood and followed.
- Ensures designated staging areas for “Z” racks are used appropriately and that all aisles, corridors, and production areas are free of clutter.
- Ensures ice melt is spread on sidewalks and pathways when weather conditions create potential slip hazards.
- Prepares and submits work orders for immediate safety concerns.
- Investigates and reports all suspicions or allegations of fraud accurately and promptly.
- Ensures the store is opened/closed daily per scheduled hours.
- Maintains proper operation of security and safety systems, including door locks, alarms, safes, fire extinguishers, and incident reports.
