This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute estimating professional looking to play a key role in securing major projects across sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, industrial, and public sector frameworks.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Pre-Construction, you will lead the estimating function on bids ranging from £10m to £150m+, managing the full tender process from initial enquiry through to submission.
Key responsibilities include
* Leading the preparation of detailed cost estimates for major construction projects.
* Managing single-stage and two-stage tender submissions.
* Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and employer requirements.
* Developing competitive pricing strategies while maintaining profitability.
* Coordinating subcontractor and supplier enquiries and evaluating returned quotations.
* Identifying project risks and opportunities and incorporating them into tender submissions.
* Working closely with design, planning, commercial, and operational teams during the bid process.
* Presenting cost plans and tender recommendations to senior leadership.
* Supporting client meetings, framework negotiations, and pre-construction presentations.
* Mentoring and developing junior estimators within the team.
About You
To be successful in this position, you will ideally have
* Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within a Tier 1 or leading regional contractor environment.
* A strong track record of pricing major construction projects from £10m upwards.
* Experience across a variety of construction sectors.
* Excellent knowledge of current market rates, procurement routes, and construction methodologies.
* Strong commercial awareness and risk assessment capabilities.
* Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
