Location:

Oldham (OL1). 🕣 Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm. 💷 £16.11 per hour. 📅 Immediate start available.

We are recruiting a passionate and resilient Youth Worker to support students in a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school setting. This role is ideal for someone with experience working with vulnerable young people who thrives on building strong relationships and making a real difference.

The role

You will support students who may present behavioural challenges, emotional needs, or barriers to learning. Your focus will be on engagement, mentoring, and helping young people develop positive coping strategies both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring
  • Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management
  • Acting as a positive role model
  • Encouraging participation in lessons and structured activities
  • Building trust with students who may have experienced trauma
  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
We are looking for someone who:
  • Has youth work, mentoring, or SEMH experience
  • Is calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent
  • Can de-escalate challenging situations
  • Builds rapport quickly with young people
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students
  • Is reliable and committed
Ideal background (not essential)
  • Youth work or support work
  • PRU / SEMH school experience
  • Care or residential support
  • Sports coaching or mentoring
  • Behaviour support roles
