We are looking for a committed and proactive Attendance Manager to join our team at The Oldham Academy North. This key role will lead our attendance strategy, working closely with students, families, and staff to remove barriers, promote excellent attendance, and drive positive outcomes across the academy. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage whole‑academy attendance strategies and supporting procedures, ensuring systems are consistently and effectively implemented
  • Oversee first‑day response processes, investigate absences, establish reasons for nonattendance, and implement agreed plans to support students back into school
  • Use attendance data to produce regular and ad‑hoc reports for SLT/DSL, identifying trends, concerns, and intervention impact
  • Conduct formal meetings with parents/carers regarding attendance and punctuality issues, ensuring actions are followed up and monitored
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, ensuring SIMS (or equivalent systems) are kept up-to-date and in line with statutory requirements

Pay range: SCP 28 - 30 - £36,201.13 - £37,703.65 - FTE: £39,152.00 - £40,777.00

Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 49) or equivalent
  • Experience of leading or managing attendance processes in a school environment, including working with sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong knowledge of attendance legislation, safeguarding procedures, and statutory requirements relating to non‑attendance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and external agencies
  • A proactive, resilient approach with the ability to manage challenging conversations, work independently, and prioritise workload effectively
