Horizon Care and Education is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our team at Thornycroft School, Oldham.

Thornycroft School will be a brand-new, independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for up to 70 pupils. Opening in the spring we are looking forward to welcoming new students! Based in Oldham, Greater Manchester, the school will meet the diverse needs of pupils aged 5-19 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism.

Jennifer the Headteacher is busy preparing the school for a new intake of students and is looking to recruit Teaching Assistants who would like to be involved in this exciting new school.

What You’ll Get To Do
  • Assisting students in their educational and social development.
  • Providing support inside and outside of the classroom so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
  • Helping to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs.
  • Supporting teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non-disruptive manner.
  • Working 1:1 with some students to give them the time and support they need to learn.
Qualifications
  • Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs and a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies.
  • Grade C or above GCSE in English and Maths, or L1/2 equivalent functional skills qualification.
  • Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.
