Do you have experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or barriers to learning?

A supportive secondary school in is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor to join their team from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting students across KS3 and KS4, with the potential to secure a permanent school contract.

You'll join an established pastoral and SEN team and play a key role in helping young people re-engage with education, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role

You will support students who require additional social, emotional and mental health support, both in and out of the classroom. Many of the pupils you will work with are capable learners who benefit from additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement.

Success in this role comes from building trust, providing consistency and becoming a positive role model for young people who need it most.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group SEMH support
  • Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
  • Helping students overcome barriers to education
  • Working alongside teaching, SEN and pastoral teams to support progress
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience and positive outcomes
