On-Call Behaviour Support

Are you confident managing behaviour and passionate about supporting young people to succeed in education? We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and resilient On-Call Behaviour Support staff to work in secondary schools across Oldham.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Youth Workers, Cover Supervisors or individuals with strong behaviour management experience who are looking to make a real difference in a school environment.

The Role
  • Work alongside class teachers to support students with behavioural and pastoral needs.
  • Build positive relationships and rapport with students to encourage engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Provide immediate support when a student is struggling to remain in the classroom.
  • Encourage students to remain in lessons and re-engage with their learning wherever possible.
  • Accompany students to an appropriate alternative classroom or designated area when they need to be removed from a lesson.
  • Help students regulate their behaviour and emotions before supporting them to return to learning.
  • Respond to on-call requests from teaching staff throughout the school day.
  • Support the school in maintaining a calm, safe and positive learning environment.
  • Follow the school's behaviour, safeguarding and on-call procedures at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and pastoral staff regarding student behaviour and progress.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Confident and resilient when managing challenging behaviour.
  • Able to build strong, positive relationships with young people.
  • Calm and patient, with the ability to de-escalate difficult situations.
  • Ideally has experience working with young people with behavioural or additional needs.
  • Experience in a school, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, behaviour support or similar setting is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to remain professional and consistent when dealing with challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Essential Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Two professional references covering recent employment.
  • Right to work in the UK.
