We're currently recruiting for a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant to join a Primary School in Oldham on a day-to-day, short-term or long-term basis Starting in September
. This role is temporary.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience in a primary school setting before progressing into teacher training, further study or a career working with children and young people.

The school welcomes applications from graduates with degrees in relevant subjects including Psychology, Childhood Studies, Education Studies, Early Childhood Studies, Primary Education, Sociology, Special Educational Needs (SEN), Youth Work and other related disciplines.

The role would suit someone who is passionate about children's development and education and keen to build their classroom, communication and interpersonal skills.

Previous school experience is desirable but not essential. Experience in tutoring, mentoring, coaching, childcare, youth work, volunteering, nursery settings or working with children would be beneficial.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Support pupils with learning - Work alongside the class teacher to support engaging and inclusive lessons, helping pupils access the curriculum and develop their academic skills.
• Provide targeted pupil support
  - Deliver effective 1:1 and small-group support
  , including interventions designed to strengthen literacy, numeracy, confidence, and independent learning.
• Promote positive behaviour and development
  - Build positive relationships with pupils, encourage confidence and resilience, and support positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
• Support pupils' wider development
  - Contribute to pupils'
  social, emotional, and academic development
  , providing appropriate encouragement and support for children with additional needs where required.
• Work collaboratively with school staff
  - Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and the wider school team to create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment, while adapting to the needs of different pupils and classroom settings.

Requirements or

Skills:

• Hold a degree in a relevant subject such as psychology, childhood studies, education studies, sociology, etc
• Genuine interest in education and a desire to develop a career working with children and young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to supporting learning
• Comfortable working collaboratively as part of the supportive school team
