Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant - EAL and MFL
Location: Shaw

Trinity School, part of the Newbury Academy Trust, is seeking to appoint a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for EAL and MFL to join our Languages team. This is a rewarding role supporting students with English as an Additional Language to access learning across the curriculum, as well as supporting Modern Foreign Languages provision in French, German and/or Spanish. Working under the direction of the Head of Languages and class teachers, the successful candidate will support individual students and small groups both in and out of the classroom, helping EAL students build confidence, language and cultural understanding, and helping GCSE MFL students develop their speaking, listening and fluency.

Key qualities
  • have experience of teaching or supporting English as an additional language or literacy
  • are confident planning and delivering small-group sessions to improve language acquisition and fluency
  • are strong communicators, able to work effectively with students, parents and colleagues
  • are organised, adaptable and creative in their approach to supporting learning
  • are fluent in, and hold a qualification in, a second language, preferably French, German or Spanish
