The School and Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychology Graduate to join the support team within a HIVE unit at a welcoming primary school in Oldham. The HIVE unit provides specialized provision for children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering a nurtured and structured environment to help pupils thrive.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a Psychology Graduate looking to gain practical, hands‑on experience in an educational setting before pursuing further studies, such as Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or teaching. Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external specialists, you will support primary pupils with complex SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small‑group basis, helping them manage their emotions, build resilience, and engage positively with their learning.

To be considered for this SEMH Support position, you will:

  • Hold a Degree in Psychology (or a related discipline)
  • Have a strong interest in supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Possess a patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to behaviour management
  • Be skilled at building strong, trusting relationships with young learners
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be flexible, reliable, and committed to promoting an inclusive learning environment
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)

As a valued employee of Vision for Education, you will receive:

  • Excellent daily rates paid weekly by our in‑house Payroll team using the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system.
  • Pension contributions (subject to a qualifying period).
  • FREE training to help with your professional development such as Team Teach training, online webinars and safeguarding and child protection updates.
  • Generous refer a friend or colleague bonus scheme.
  • Access to a dedicated consultant, who will provide ongoing support.
