Facilities Shift Engineer
Location:
Manchester
Salary: £55,000 (OTE £65,000+)
We are seeking a proactive, skilled Facilities Shift Engineer to support the maintenance and reliability of site facilities, utilities, and building services at a modern, highly automated industrial manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and carry out preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on site facilities and utility systems.
- Maintain building services equipment such as HVAC systems, compressors, pumps, lighting, extraction systems, and electrical distribution equipment.
- Respond to breakdowns and minimise downtime across site infrastructure and services.
- Support maintenance of utilities including compressed air, water systems, heating, ventilation, and factory services.
- Conduct routine inspections, ensuring all facilities equipment remains compliant and operational.
- Assist with contractor supervision, ensuring all external works are completed safely and to required standards.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in line with health & safety legislation and company policies.
- Previous facilities maintenance experience within an industrial manufacturing or production environment.
- Hands‑on experience carrying out planned, reactive, and breakdown maintenance on building services and site facilities equipment.
- Strong understanding of health & safety procedures and safe systems of work within an industrial environment.
- Strong fault‑finding and maintenance skills.
- Experience maintaining industrial facilities, utilities, and building services equipment.
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems and reactive maintenance activities.
- Ability to work independently within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within the UK manufacturing sector.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, compressors, boilers, water systems, and site utilities.
- Experience with facilities compliance, statutory inspections, and contractor management.
