Overview

Are you an outstanding Specialty or Associate Specialist Doctor looking for your next challenge in psychiatry? Cygnet Kenney House is our hospital for women, located in Oldham. The services provide a safe and secure care pathway for women with mental health need and are now open. We have collaborated with the NHS to develop services to support women from the North West to be treated closer to home.

The role is based on Baldock Ward, a 16 bed female emergency acute inpatient service that provides a safe and stabilising environment for women experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and requiring an emergency admission.

There are three wards at Cygnet Kenney House:
Billington Ward (12 bed PICU), Baldock Ward (16 bed Acute service) and Harben Ward (16 bed mental health rehabilitation and recovery service).

• Provide a safe and stabilising environment for women experiencing acute mental illness and requiring emergency admission (on Baldock Ward).
• Assess and treat women in the least restrictive environment and plan for discharge in a robust and timely fashion.
• Focus on stabilisation, support individuals to manage their mental health, reinforce daily living skills and prepare for independent life back in the community.
• Work closely and collaboratively with individuals, their families and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge.
• Apply a recovery-focused approach supported by a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team, contributing to shorter lengths of stay.
