The Band 7 Dietitian is responsible for providing dietetic support to adult, older adult, high support and rehabilitation patients in our mental health inpatient services in Bury, Rochdale and Oldham.
This is a fixed term post to provide cover for maternity leave.
Main duties of the jobThe main duties of the job are to
- Assess and monitor patients, offering therapeutic dietary advice and education to a range of patients within inpatient services
- Provide specialist nutritional and dietetic advice to medical, health care professionals and other agencies.
- Contribute to the nutrition and dietetic service as a whole through participation in service development
- Training for staff and patients to improve service delivery

You will be working as an independent specialist practitioner providing dietetic assessment and interventions across wards on several sites in three boroughs. You will utilize well developed communication skills to work effectively with patients, carers and multi professional teams at each site to ensure the best outcome for patients.
You will plan , deliver and evaluate informal and formal training to patients and staff. You will work collaboratively with other Trust dietitians and contribute to project, resource and policy development as appropriate.

Person Specification Education/qualifications- BSc Nutrition & Dietetics plus short courses and experience to Master's level in relevant area OR BSc in relevant science subject plus post-graduate diploma/MSc in Nutrition & Dietetics/Dietetics plus post registration short courses and experience to Master's level in relevant area
- HCPC Registration
- Member of the British Dietetic Association
- Member of a special interest group
- Basic clinical supervisory skills training
- Relevant post registration clinical dietetic experience
- Experience of managing a dietetic case load
- Experience of working with patients with mental health conditions and dementia
- Experience of enteral feeding
- Good knowledge of nutrition and dietetics and an understanding of the dietary management of common conditions requiring diet therapy
- Awareness of the HCPC Standards of conduct, performance and ethics and Standards of Proficiency
- Knowledge of different ethnic cultures and religions
- Knowledge of clinical governance
- Good oral communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- Able to convey complex information in an understandable way
- Good anthropometric measurement skills
- Able to reflect and appraise own performance
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
- Willing to carry out all duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies
