Role Overview:

We are delighted to share a fantastic opportunity to become part of Oldham Council’s Adult Mental Health Team. Following new partnership arrangements with our health colleagues, we are entering an exciting new chapter focused on delivering high quality, person-centred support across our community. You will be joining a local authority that has been recently rated as 'Good' by CQC in February 2026 and was praised by the inspectors for its strong leadership, positive culture and person-centred approach.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated social workers/AMHPs who are passionate about providing support to those experiencing mental health needs. You will be part of a team that includes a Social Care Lead, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, Community Support Workers, and Administrators all working collaboratively to make a real difference in people’s lives.

You will be working alongside the NHS mental health teams and Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise sectors. If you have a positive, cando approach, are passionate about supporting others and thrive in a dynamic, forward thinking environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To undertake the assessment of support needs for Service Users, Carers and Families, where their circumstances may be difficult and unstable, and assist in screening referrals.
  • Participate on a rota undertaking Mental Health Act Assessments
  • To produce, deliver, evaluate and update Care & Support Plans and packages, in order to resolve practical and emotional social care, health and well-being difficulties.

Key Requirements:

  • A Social Work degree or an equivalent recognised Social Work Qualification, e.g. DipSW and AMHP Approval status (including evidence of CPD)
  • Experience of undertaking accurate and sensitive assessments of Service Users, Carers and Families to produce Care/ Support Plans
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary team to deliver social work services
