We are looking to recruit a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist within to work within Oldham Early Intervention in Psychosis service. The service provides evidence based psychological therapies for people who are experiencing first episode psychosis or who are at risk of developing Psychosis. The post holder will provide evidence based CBT for EIT patients who have been allocated under First Episode Psychosis (FEP) or At Risk Mental State (ARMS)
The post holder will be able to work with on a 1-1 and within a group setting delivering interventions.
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
- Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and Early Intervention Team Operational Policy.
- Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions, with specialist assessment of suitability for CBT.
- Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the Early Intervention Team Operational Policy.
- To act autonomously in the assessment, formulation and implementation of appropriate treatment interventions for a caseload of clients
- Use highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties
- To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with the service.
- Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.
- Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
- Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
- Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and help to collate and disseminate the results for feedback.
- Liaise with other health and social care staff from a range of agencies.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications- Post graduate qualification in CBT with a core profession (i.e. nursing, social work, occupational therapy)
- Post graduate training in CBT for psychosis
- Postgraduate raining in Family Intervention (for psychosis
- Or equivalent: e.g. A recorded / registered doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology And, significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences to deliver CBT and FI to clients experiencing their first episode of psychosis
- To be accredited with a professional body e.g. BPS, UKCP, BABCP
- Trained in provision of supervision for CBT or FI
- Demonstrates a good understanding psychosis and other common mental health conditions
- Demonstrable knowledge of delivering CBT to clients with psychosis
- Demonstrates a good understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
- Previous experience of working within an EI service
- Experience of delivering CBT for first episode psychosis.
