  • Harness the potential of technology and data
  • Grow and level up the economy

Joining our department comes with many benefits, including:

Role overview

As Counter Fraud Investigation Manager, you will lead and oversee day-to-day counter fraud investigations across the DVSA’s Driver and Rider schemes.

You will play a key role in protecting public funds and maintaining trust in DVSA services by managing fraud investigations. You will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery, high-quality and customer-focused investigations that align with agreed plans and DVSA’s wider corporate objectives.

This includes leading reactive counter fraud investigations, and managing them professionally and proportionately.

Leadership & Management

A key part of the role is the leadership and management of a geographically dispersed team of investigators. You will provide clear direction, support and oversight, ensuring consistent standards, effective communication and strong performance across locations. You will foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, supporting development and wellbeing while ensuring operational priorities are met.

Governance & Professional Rigor

You will also provide the governance and professional rigour needed to manage fraudulent activity allegations, escalating and actioning cases as required in line with direction from the Senior Investigation Manager and the Head of Counter Fraud.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate & manage a team of investigators & associated resources, striving to meet or exceed targets for effectiveness, efficiency & service.
  • Monitor performance in all areas, provide feedback & seek improvement.
  • Interpret the law, apply different approaches and methodologies, and undertake fraud detection.
  • Manage relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to meet the expectations of the Senior Investigation Manager, Head of Counter-Fraud and Head of Enforcement.
  • Provide advice and guidance to other staff, as required, in the course of carrying out counter fraud work.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, professional investigative practices, internal quality procedures and Internal Auditing Standards.
  • Act as SIO and be prepared to appear in court as a witness as and when required.
Line Management

Great line management is important to us as an organisation, and we will equip and support line managers to develop the skills they need. We aim to empower line managers to create teams where people can flourish and deliver excellent outcomes for the public.
