Material Handler, Forklift Operator

Job Purpose
JDR Recruitment is recruiting for a Material Handling Operative who holds a Counterbalance & Reach licence. The successful candidate will support the movement of materials and components within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment. Experience handling engineering components such as axles, trailer parts, steel components, and fabricated products is required.
This role is not solely forklift-based and will involve a combination of FLT operation, manual handling, stock control, and goods-in duties. Candidates must be confident operating trucks in environments where loads are often irregular, awkwardly shaped, and non-palletised.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operate both Counterbalance and Reach Forklift Trucks.
- Move engineering components, raw materials, and finished products throughout the warehouse and production areas.
- Load, unload, and store items including axles, trailer components, steel parts, and other engineering products.
- Carry out manual handling duties when required.
- Supply production lines with materials and remove completed products from manufacturing areas.
- Book goods in and out using company IT systems.
- Accurately record stock movements and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects immediately.
- Assist with stock counts and inventory control activities.
- Ensure materials are stored safely and efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Support other warehouse and production activities as required.
- Valid, in-date Counterbalance FLT licence.
- Valid, in-date Reach Truck licence.
- Previous experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Experience handling large, heavy, irregularly shaped engineering components rather than standard palletised goods.
- Good understanding of safe load handling and warehouse practices.
- Competent IT skills for booking in stock, processing goods received, and updating inventory systems.
- Ability to carry out manual handling duties safely.
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
- Experience working with trailer components, steel products, fabrication parts, or similar engineering materials.
- Experience using warehouse management or ERP systems.
- Previous goods-in or stock control experience.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Highly competent and confident FLT operator.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to workload and responsibilities.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Combination of warehouse, goods-in, and production support duties.
- Regular forklift operation alongside manual handling of engineering parts and materials.
- PPE required at all times in designated areas.
- Busy engineering and manufacturing facility.

£14.43 per hour
Please note:
Monday - Thursday 6:30pm-4:30pm — 38 hours per week
