Staff Nurse - Vascular

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our busy Vascular Ward team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast‑paced acute setting caring for patients with a wide range of vascular conditions, including peripheral arterial disease, diabetic foot complications, aneurysms, and post‑operative vascular surgery patients.
Our ward provides high‑quality specialist care within a supportive multidisciplinary environment. You will work closely with vascular surgeons, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and discharge teams to deliver safe, effective and patient‑centred care.
We have a varied shift pattern of early shifts (07:30‑14:00), late shifts (13:30‑20:00), long days (07:30‑20:00), night shifts (19:30‑08:00).
Main duties of the job- Deliver high standards of nursing care to vascular and surgical patients
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
- Monitor deteriorating patients and respond appropriately to acute clinical needs
- Support patients pre‑ and post‑operatively
- Administer medications and treatments in line with NHS policies
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team
- Provide education and support to patients and relatives
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Supervise and support junior staff and students where appropriate

Jobresponsibilities and eligibility
This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse in the UK. An NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role. The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
PersonSpecification
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisation and time‑management skills
- Ability to prioritise workload in a busy acute ward environment
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of clinical governance and evidence‑based practice
- Ability to recognise and escalating deteriorating patients appropriately
- Basic IT skills and ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Post Registration Experience
- Understanding of safeguarding, infection prevention and patient safety principles
- Previous experience in an acute surgical or vascular ward setting
- Experience caring for patients with complex wounds, diabetic foot care or post‑operative surgical needs
- Knowledge of vascular conditions and treatments
- Venepuncture and cannulation skills
- Experience supervising healthcare assistants or student nurses
- Experience in wound care
