Childrens Social Workers – Social Work Services Oldham Council We are looking for experienced, passionate and ambitious Social Workers to work within frontline children's social work teams, responsible for safeguarding and achieving positive outcomes for children and families. This is an exciting opportunity to join a service committed to delivering high-quality practice, strong management oversight and child-centred decision making. You will work within a team working across a broad range of statutory responsibilities, ensuring children receive the right support, protection and intervention at the right time.
About the Role As Social Worker, you will work across a range of safeguarding and statutory functions, including:
Duty and Assessment Child in Need (CIN) Strategy Discussions and Strategy Meetings Section 47 Child Protection Enquiries Pre-Proceedings and Public Law Outline (PLO) Child Protection Planning and Review Children Looked After (CLA) Care Planning and Permanence Planning Court Work and Care Proceedings You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of social work practice, delivering effective performance management and supporting staff development to create a positive culture where children remain at the centre of everything we do.
Day-to-day of the role:
Engage in a variety of safeguarding and statutory functions including Duty and Assessment, Child in Need (CIN), and Child Protection Planning. Conduct Strategy Discussions and Meetings, Section 47 Child Protection Enquiries, and participate in Pre-Proceedings and Public Law Outline (PLO). Manage cases of Children Looked After (CLA), focusing on Care Planning and Permanence Planning. Take part in Court Work and Care Proceedings, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children under care.
Drive high-quality assessments, plans, and interventions that improve outcomes for children and families. Promote excellent partnership working across multi-agency networks to ensure comprehensive support for children. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
A recognised Social Work qualification. Registration with Social Work England. Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care. Extensive knowledge of Children's legislation, safeguarding procedures, and statutory guidance. Proven experience in complex Child Protection, Children Looked After, and court-related work. A commitment to restorative, relationship-based, and strengths-focused practice. Benefits:
