Are you an experienced education or safeguarding professional passionate about improving outcomes and protecting vulnerable children and young people?

As MACPT Education lead, you will be a key member of Oldham’s Multi-Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT), providing specialist education safeguarding expertise to ensure that education needs, risks and protective factors are central to child protection decision‑making.

Working alongside Children’s Social Care, Police, Health, education settings and wider safeguarding partners, you will bring timely and accurate educational intelligence into multi‑agency assessment, planning and intervention.

• Provide specialist education safeguarding expertise, advice and professional challenge within multi‑agency child protection processes, ensuring decisions reflect statutory guidance and best practice.
• Represent education within strategy discussions, Section 47 enquiries, Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups and other multi‑agency forums to inform safeguarding assessments and plans.
• Build strong, effective partnerships with schools, colleges and education providers, securing timely information and promoting effective, coordinated safeguarding responses.
• Analyse educational data, including attendance, attainment, exclusions and engagement, to identify risks, barriers to learning and safeguarding concerns for vulnerable children and young people.
• Champion improved educational stability, engagement and outcomes for children with a social worker and other vulnerable learners through quality assurance, training, service improvement and multi‑agency collaboration

• Significant experience in an education safeguarding role, or a senior education role with safeguarding responsibilities, including applying safeguarding and child protection legislation and statutory guidance within education settings
• Substantial experience of working with children with a social worker and other vulnerable children and young people, with a proven track record of improving educational engagement, attendance, participation and outcomes
• In‑depth knowledge of education safeguarding legislation and multi‑agency child protection processes, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children, and their practical application within education settings
• Ability to build effective relationships and share information with schools, colleges and wider safeguarding partners
