Peer Support Specialist – MYPAC – Olive Branch, MS

- Serve as a representative and advocate for youth and families with behavioral health treatment needs who are youth of the MYPAC, PMHC, and Day Treatment.

- Maintain communication among families, community, Child Protective Services, and clinic staff.
- Provide information and support for educational and training initiatives for family members.
- Advocate, represent, support, and assist youth and their families.
- Assist in creating and sustaining a family‑driven approach.
- Provide families with information, advocacy skills, and related activities.
- Provide psycho‑education group sessions as needed.
- Assist families in crisis with appropriate referrals and supports; link families to behavioral health system resources.
- Assist families in resolving complaints and concerns regarding Canopy’s system of care.
- Identify and develop potential leaders, continuing to develop your own leadership abilities.
- Biological parent, adoptive parent, or relative caregiver with permanent legal custody, raising or having raised a child with an emotional, social, behavioral, or substance use disability; child has received services from a child/youth mental health provider.
- Provide support and guidance to parents/caregivers navigating child‑serving systems and advocating for their child/youth.
- Must possess at least a High School Diploma or GED equivalent; able to complete Department of Mental Health Certified Peer Specialist trainings and certification exam for CPSS.
- Must apply for certification within the first 30 days of employment.
- Identifies good listening and problem‑solving skills with families individually or in group settings.
- Excellent organizational skills, experience with diverse communication styles, and teamwork abilities.
- Dependable and positive attitude.
