Position: Registered Nurse (RN)- Full-Time (Nights)

Responsibilities

Parkwood Behavioral Health System provides behavioral health and chemical dependency services to the Mid-South region and has been in business since 1987. We are located in Desoto County, in the northwest corner of Mississippi and approximately 7 miles south of Memphis.

We offer a full continuum of care that includes a 148-bed inpatient acute and residential care facility, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

Registered Nurse

  • Hours/Days: 12‑hour shifts (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.)
    • Rotating Nights

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Parkwood Behavioral Health. The RN prescribes, coordinates, and delegates nursing care utilizing the nursing process that is integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. The RN is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit.

The RN may also assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; BSN preferred.

Experience: One (1) year prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing preferred.

Licensure: Licensure and registration by the Mississippi Board of Nursing as a registered nurse, or multi‑state license as approved by NCSBN.

Knowledge: Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships, age‑specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management, and CPR training. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female children, adolescents, and adults as well as dually diagnosed adults.
