Family Advocate - Olive Branch, MS
Founded in 1912 as an adoption agency, Canopy Children's Solutions is Mississippi’s most comprehensive nonprofit provider of children's behavioral health, educational, and family support solutions. The Family Advocate serves as the primary point of contact between families, community partners, and state agencies, helping families navigate services, providing psycho‑education, and advocating for their needs.
Family Advocate Overview- Primary point of contact between families, community partners, and state agencies.
- Link families to services, provide education/psycho‑education, and network to strengthen families and keep kids in stable homes.
- Support families' emotional well‑being with empathy, hope, and evidence‑based practices.
- Advocate, represent, support and assist youth and their families.
- Assist in creating and sustaining a family‑driven approach.
- Provide families with information, advocacy skills and related activities.
- Provide psycho‑education as needed.
- Assist families in crisis with referrals and supports.
- Assist families in resolving complaints and concerns about the system of care.
- Represent families at team meetings and related activities.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with professional partners.
- Maintain a high level of cultural competency.
- Meet regularly with program staff and coordinate responsibilities with supervisor.
- Carry out administrative duties, including maintaining a predictable weekly schedule, attending orientation and required trainings, participating in quality assurance studies, networking/marketing in the community, documenting services within 48 hours, and other assigned duties.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Excellent communication, listening, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to articulate concepts clearly to families.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Experience with diverse communication styles and teamwork.
- Familiarity with MDHS, TANF, and other state services.
